Today is Remembrance Day (or Veterans Day).
This day is special, as it is cause for us to remember all of those men and women who have (and continue to do so) fought for our rights and freedoms. Since I was in the military myself for a few years, this day hits home. As a Reservist, I participated in many Remembrance Day parades. We stood in the cold - snow and rain- at the War memorial here in Ottawa and it was worth it. Alot of people hated doing parades, but I gladly signed up.
In Flanders Fields - Lt Col John McCrae
In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we
lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch, be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies
grow
In Flanders fields
Name That....
