Well...it's been awhile since my last post. I have been riding my horse, working, sleeping and eating and that is about it. How exciting!?!?!?!
************
My lessons have been going well - I'm pretty much starting from ground zero and filling in all of the holes in my riding. I'm hoping the learning curve speeds up a bit as we go. I'm already feeling more confident and my legs are getting stronger, so that is all good.
I've been riding western and we have been working on slowing Rusty's trot down alot. I wouldn't say we have a jog yet, but we are well on the way. It won't be an AQHA jog where the horse is in slow motion, but we will have a jog. I have also been working on walk/trot transitions and that is going alot better so that makes me feel like we are making some progress.
I have been writing down all of the drills/exercises that my barn owner has me doing and trying to do some of the exercises when I ride on my own. You should see all of my funny little diagrams and notes - I feel like a kid in school!
I've been meaning to take some pictures, but I always seem to be there alone and I have a hard enough time handling gates while trying to manage longe lines, tack, helmets, and a horse that I haven't managed to add taking pictures in. There are always people around too, so I feel a little silly trying to take pictures.
Rusty is turned out with three ponies. I totally have a horse-crush on one of them. He is a little chestnut paint and his name is Shorty. He nickers and trots over to the fence every time I come out. I can't help but give him a scratch. He is under 14hh and has the cutest little belly!
That's about all that is going on here - hope y'all can handle the excitement! :-p

Don't feel silly taking pictures! Of course, there is noone around to see me do it. But one day you'll wish you had photos of your experiences. Not just for the blog, but just to have them.
I think it's great you take notes and diagrams! I am a visual learner, not an auditory learner. In fact, I highly regret not taking notes at the clinic last weekend because I heard so many great things but can't remember them all!
So good to hear that things are going well at the new barn. Non horsey people dont understand that going to a new barn can be a lot like when you were a kid and had to go to a new school! Socially it can be a little awkward and may take a while until you feel at home. I am sure that you have already come further in your riding than you realize. It is so wonderful to ride and so much easier to learn when you get to have someone telling you what to do and where to go! At least I find it is.

Hey jogging is good! Jogging is always good - and don't worry about it being super slow. Most of those AQHA horses that can do that super slow show jog, have been selectively bred to do it. I would say a majority of horses don't have the conformation to do it. A medium jog is just fine.
Good idea taking notes - I used to video all my lessons - then when I got home I would go over and over and over them - then video myself riding at home alone then compare it to my lesson videos.
I have to agree with PG. Take the pics! You will want them someday.
I really wish I had been more of a photo-taker when I first got Cessa. (which I may have been if digital was the norm then - lol)
Great to hear from you. My! You really have been a busy girl.
Yes, just go ahead and take photos freely. And then share them on your blog. I always enjoy it!
And you know what they say, "If you don't blog about it, it didn't happen!" lol!
Sounds like Rusty and your are seriously content in the new barn :)

Sometimes no news is good news! Sounds like you and Rusty are very happy in your new barn. The lessons are upping your confidence and you are getting to ride more-it's all GOOD!!
Go ahead and snap some pictures of your new digs for us(and yourself) though-we are dying of jealously over the indoor arena and want to drool over it allllll winter.;)
Thank you for checking in at my blog, "You may be a Pony Cousin, if..."
I have carefully considered all of the factors and have determined that there are bloggers out there who are just as "horse crazy" as the Pony Cousins. However, i have found many, many bloggers who have taken "horse crazy" to new heights!
Check in to the blog: http://kjmiddleoftheroad.blogspot.com/2008/11/who-will-be-pony.html
Find out if you have what it takes to be a Pony Cousin!
Now stop and listen to yourself!!! You are having FUN!!! Rusty is having FUN!!! Dayum girl, Life Is Great there! So awesome, and I am wicked happy for you two. Shorty sounds adorable too. It is great that you are getting to really ride, and learn, and gain so much confidence in your ability.
(And sorry its been a bit on me stopping in... been freaking crazy here...)
