Lousy blogger and bad horse mom!

Just thought I would write a short update to move my grumpy post down a bit! I'm still working on finding time to go throug my NYC pictures to share a few with you guys. I'm hoping to get that out of the way by the weekend.

I have only made it out to the barn 3x in the almost two weeks that I have been home...which isn't so good really. Rusty seems to be faring well during his vacation. They have been finally turned out for some grass and the bugs aren't too bad yet. The barn owner mixed up the small herds a couple of weeks ago just so all of the horses get used to each other.

I was quite happy to turn him out with his three little pony friends last night and watch them play and groom each other. It is such a 360 from the other barn - turning him out there meant me going out and chasing the other horses back with a longe whip and someone else letting Rusty out. Sadly, I'm not kidding. Now the other horses respectfully wait a few feet back from the gate and everybody is calm and friendly. That's the way it shoud be!!

I'm planning to get back to riding 3-4 times a week over the coming weeks. Rusty and I were making some good progress before I left. I need to get that momentum going again, because I was a little discouraged with myself after last nights bounce-fest. (edited to add: I felt like a sack of old potatoes at the trot...) I'm also extremely anxious to get my new saddle, which should be here in early July (and I have the money saved up for the balance on it too! yeah me! lol).

Well, that's about it for me today. I have a bunch of half-written posts in my head, but it's hard to say at this point if they will ever see the light of day. I might have to go a bullet point summary or something, just to get the info out of my brain so I can get some fresh material in! :-)

I am just glad he has a nice safe and friendly group of friends to go hang out with in the evenings. Doesn't have to live in fear or in fear of getting beat-up all the time by the rest of the herd.

Sounds like your at a really nice barn - the horses tend to reflect the barn's karma. Good luck with getting back into the riding - I bet your horse hasn't minded the break!

Bounce fest, eh? But I bet you stayed on. I can't say the same, I'm afraid, and I have had to make a commitment to myself to not ride until my hip has a chance to really heal.

The atmosphere at the new barn sounds nice.

I can relate to wanting to move the grumpy posts down. I've been writing a lot of those lately, but somehow I keep moving them down with other grumpy posts! LOL.
