I think I had my last summer evening ride on the Monday before I left for my trip. The air had just a hint of coolness and there was a nice strong breeze to keep the bugs away. The sun was just starting to set - it gets dark alot earlier now than in July.
I went out to find Rusty and he was out enjoying the last bits of summer pasture. I had to trek out to bring him in (it isn't really that far...). It always makes me smile to see horses grazing here, because our time with grass AND nice weather is so short.

Rusty finally hears me calling and looks up to see what the racket is...

Skippy is brave enough to come over and see me. Rusty goes back to grazing, keeping and eye on me. I wonder if he is going to try to avoid being caught, but he's too lazy for that.

He decided it was safe to come over and see me for a scratch and a peppermint. I also took a bunch of pictures.

Then, since there were no more mints and all Iwas doing was taking pictures, he decided to go back to grazing. Might as well get a few more bites of grass in while you can.

He didn't wander far, so when I was done with the pictures, he let me catch him without any problems. Phew! We headed back to the barn to get tacked up. I had a short lesson, then went back out to the fields to really enjoy the beautful evening. Rusty was feeling good, so we had a nice tour around the hay fields. The setting sun forced us back to the barn

Happy trails!

Glad you are getting in some rides too in your new saddle!
The horses look very content in their pasture. Looks like a pretty area. And looks like Rusty enjoyed his ride.
