I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend - I sure did! We had a busy weekend with family and I managed to get two rides in as well. I also convinced my hubby to come along and take some pictures. I think Rusty looks great, but I could use a bit of help. lol
I went out to this barn this morning as rain was forecasted for the afternoon (and it is raining right now!) so I'm glad I got my ride in before the weather changed. We went down the long hay field (about 1km) and then over to the stable across the road to ride on the track. I am not the most confident rider, but after riding on a track a few times, I can sort of get why people like to go fast. It is really fun - and that is on a 20yr old Appy! I'm sure riding a TB or something would be just incredible...if you had the nerves to do so.
Getting started - trying to pose for a photo. I don't like having my picture taken, but this one isn't bad, I guess...
The one shot of Rusty in this field where he didn't have his ears pinned. What a guy.
Nice Monarch butterfly shot - my photographer got distracted. :-)
Cantering through the hay field - not sure why I brought the crop today - it just got in the way.
Trotting back to pick up the photographer.
Having fun on the track...The track needs to be harrowed, but the footing is still decent.
Not bad for an old guy! Not sure what I'm doing with my right arm here...trying to flap it and make us go faster??? lol

Only a husband would cut off the horse's head in a pic LOL!
Looks like I am not the only one that has a photographer that gets distracted by other things! Ha ha!
Love the pictures he took, he did a pretty good job! That track looks fun to ride on, I wish I had something like that here.
What great pictures - you guys looks like you were having fun!
GO LAURA!!!!
Rusty looks amazing, and you do too! Just look at that smile and how much fun you guys are having!!!!!
What a great place to ride at too. I hope you get to spend many more hours out there before your winter sets in!
That looks like such a great place to ride. I don't know how long it has been since I've intentionally cantered. I cantered a lot when I took the horses to the fairgrounds last year, but all I do is walk and jog on the trails now. It's good to see pictures of you riding.
I agree with the previous comments and I've got to add that you seem much happier at the new barn :)
Oh, I am so jealous. It would be fabulous to have a track to leg horses up on.
You look like you are having a blast. Yay for you!
These are spectacular! Rusty looks like he's enjoying himself...and you, too!
You guys look AWESOME together!
And your photoggrapher did a terrific job. He's got some serious talent. Love the Monarch, too!
I'm so glad you got some ride time in. I'm so happy for you!
Thanks for sharing these pictures. It's so rare to ever see photos of you. You look like you've lost a bunch of weight, too. You look really great. I mean it! :)

Just an editorial note: The pictures looked cut off in some browsers because I use the x-large setting in blogger. Not all browsers can view pages that wide!!
Very nice! I don't like to be photographed either. So, y'all aren't likely to see any of me for quite some time yet. ;-)
Looks like a nice ride on a lovely day. You have a great area to ride in. Nice pictures.
I wish I could get my hubs interested enough to take pics. Mine gets distracted before he ever gets there. LOL
I'm with you about "nerve" to ride something really fast. I turned Dandy loose on a race track once and nearly wet myself. LOL BIG CHICKEN, I am!
