The best laid plans...

This is what we woke up to around here - well, minus the sun, of course!  I know it isn't much snow, but what you can't see from the picture is that there is a layer of ice underneath...  We had freezing rain overnight and it switched to a light snow around 5:00 this morning.

I have a couple of precious hours off work this afternoon and I was hoping to go riding.  The sun may melt the ice enough, but it is hard to say whether it will be safe to ride or not. Either way, I will be going out to the barn to check on Rusty.

I also had big plans to ride both weekend days right up until Christmas - now I'm wondering if that will be possible!  Ice is such a pain in the butt... Snow is quite manageable and even looks nice, but ice just about ruins outdoor plans (unless the ice is in your drink in the summer!)

Luckily I am still doing 2 lessons/week at my old barn, so I'm getting in some riding.  Rusty is just sitting around chowing down on a round bale and getting fat!  Lucky him - that is probably the way he prefers life these days.

I hope all of my American friends had a nice Thanksgiving!  All the talk of Thanksgiving has me craving turkey...guess I'll just have to wait another month until Christmas...  :-)

I've had more Canadians wish me a Happy Thanksgiving. You gals are so thoughtful to be aware of American holidays. I think all horsewomen should receive indoor arenas for Christmas.

I was taking Hazel for a walk along the driveway/field at your barn and we said "Hi" to Rusty from a distance. He looked very content and happy. He was also very interested in watching us and walked along the edge of his turnout to keep up with us. Fuzzy ears pricked the whole time. It was really cute, especially since there was quite a distance between us.

Oh NuzMuz if only that were true! Lucky for me there's an indoor right next door. :)

Laura - we got slushy snow right before our "real" snow so it was very slippery here too (that was a few weeks ago)

Yeah...ice, no fun for riding or walking on. Sure hope it melts for you.
At least the indoor arena will be ice free, right?

Thanks for the Thanksgiving holiday wishes. :)

Stay warm and safe,

Ok my shopaholic friend, I need pony stuff for my house and preferably not western themed. Ideas of where to shop online?

Why wait? Make a small turkey now! I've got a great recipe that will keep your bird moist and flavorful along with tips if you're interested! Let's just say it involves bacon!

RuckusButt - cool that Rusty followed you along the edge of the field a bit - I can barely get him to look up at me when I'm there. lol

Lisa - no indoor at the new place. I'm taking lessons at the old place and she has an indoor there.

OS - hmm - not sure where to look for home decorations that aren't western themed...will have to search around a bit.
