I guess I should have just taken a short break, instead of completely leaving the blog... As it turns out, I sort of have some news to share and a good reason to start back with somewhat regular writing again. I guess I was a bit too hasty in thinking I could walk away from my blog!
So, I shouldn’t stall too much longer and tell you the news.
We bought a small property in the country!!! With a barn!! And fenced paddocks!!! And a riding ring!!!
I am starting to get excited now that it is official. We went through a very long and stressful process to end up where we are. I think that is the main reason I stopped blogging – I was busy doing house stuff and unsure if it would all work out. Now I can relax, I actually feel like writing about the process and all of the hoops we had to jump through to get where we are.
So, without any further blabbing, here are the important details and a few pictures:
14 acres total, 5 acres fenced. 3 stall barn with a tack room and a big area at the front for hay storage. I guess down the road, we could build something separate for hay and make more stalls or something... (my hubby would divorce me if he read that!) but for now, I will have lots of space. The property backs onto Crown land, which means that we won’t have neighbours behind us. I looked on the Google satellite map and it looks like there are trails up behind the house, but not sure if they are ok for horses or not. Ok, I’m blabbing again. Pictures for real this time:

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! That is so great! I'm happy for you the new place looks beautiful. And to have trails bordering your property is priceless. I wish you all the best.
Of course you know this means another horse or two. You can't have two empty stalls and your horse will need a companion. Wonder if Rusty would still be available to keep her company? Anyway, have fun and I love that pool too.
CONGRATS! So exciting! I'm a wee bit jealous that most of the work is already done at your new place and I have so much left to do! When do you move in?
Thanks guys! I'm starting to get really excited!
June 1st is the move in date. Not sure when I'll move Dolly. I might wait a bit to get things sorted out first. And find her a friend or two! :-)
That is so awesome! Congrats! The place looks beautiful!
Small property you say???
Seriously???!!
Your new digs are spacious and palatial! The house is gorgeous and huge! An in-ground pool??? Incredible! All that gorgeous white fencing. Lush green pasture and lawns?! Amazing!! The barn...wow! A riding ring??! Wowza!
We live on just 3 acres with only a two stall open-sided barn and only a tiny hay storage for maybe 50-60 bales at the back. No grass at all, just rusty pipe fencing around the paddocks...certainly no riding ring or in-ground pool! And trails out my back-door? Nope.
You're moving to paradise, girlfriend. And I could not be happier for you!!!! Whoohooo!
Good to see you blogging again, too!

Congratulations! That is so freaking exciting amd I am so happy for you. Love the house, pool, barn and arena!! And yes you will have to fill up the barn with horses!!
Wow! I'm impressed - it looks like a great property for both horses and people.
Well, you already know how I feel about your new acquisition :) I wanted to say I'm glad you think you'll continue blogging. I think you just need to give yourself permission to post as little or often as you want and not worry about the rest. Clearly you will still have people reading!
You just bought my dream home :P I am sure you will enjoy it!
Thanks!!
Lisa - the house is only about 1800 square feet - the pictures are shot with a wide-angle lens so it makes it all look bigger than it really is.
The pool is the icing on the cake though. It isn't as big as it looks either, but it will be heavenly on our hot, humid summer days!
OMG!! Awesome!!! I think this place looks like the perfect little country home for a horse lover as yourself! So happy for you guys and that you are going to still blog (although I understand the need for a vaca, as you know I took one, too! ;-)
Oh! It looks wonderful! Big congratulations!
I've been so busy packing for my move that I almost missed this. The house, barn and property look wonderful! That's more in line with what I wish I could have found. I guess I just didn't look far enough north. Hee hee.
1800 feet is a very roomy home, especially for just 2 people.
Our first house was just barely 1,200 feet for the two of us. Our second house was 1,500 for 4 of us. And our third house was 1,800 and our current house is 2,000.
Even though we are a family of 5, I prefer average sized homes or homes on the smaller size because then I won't be tempted to buy stuff I don't need just to fill up all that extra space...and I won't have to clean it all. lol!
A pool sounds sublime! We've often thought about how great it would be to have a pool, but with zero humidity here, we'd have to get one heated because we'd get too cold, even in July and August.
