It feels a bit strange to have her gone - even if only temporarily. She may come back to me, but I also got the hunch that the husband realllly liked her already.
Last night I wandered around the house, at a loss for something to do... (There is lots to do, just would've preferred being at the barn!) My new coach told me he found a horse for me to look at, so I'll be trying to arrange that sometime in the next few days. I don't like being horse-less, it just doesn't feel right!

I know I was wrong in my last comment but I do think it sounds like trial is a good idea. Maybe not having Dolly around will give you a sense of whether you miss her or if it's horses in general.
I'm with you on feeling very weird about not having a functional horse. I can go and groom to my heart's content, and I do love just spending time with a horse, but I want to ride too.
Good luck with the horse your coach recommended! The odds of finding something suitable have got to be better than trying to pick good ads!
You are in the middle of a bunch of winding paths, and where things will end up, nobody knows. I don't know what your situation is with the coach, but please trust your instinct and don't give in to pressures from others. I've learned that when a trainer "finds" someone the perfect horse for them, it's usually a horse that the trainer will receive a commission on for helping someone else get rid of it. It's kind of like real estate. The trainer isn't always looking out for the buyer's best interests, but is just trying to move the sale alone so that he/she can collect a paycheck. I've observed this happen at training stables quite a bit. Take your time to figure out what you want.
I am sure it was sad seeing Dolly go. Hopefully the new home will work out for her.
Can't wait to hear about the horse your coach wants you to try. But take your time. Ride it a few times before making a decision. I know you know this, but you want to make sure that your next horse is right for you!! Good luck in your horse search!!
I think you did the right thing. You'll click with a horse when the right one comes along. It may not be the "perfect" horse, but when you click it doesn't matter.
Sounds like a good first step forward in fulfilling your horse dreams and desires. I hope everything works out well for you and for Dolly. And I hope you find the perfect horse for you. I have faith that you will. This is just a temporary transition time for you. So hang in there.
(((hugs)))
