Wednesday - not so wordless after all

This post is for Lisa, at Laughing Orca Ranch... Here are some pictures of chip trucks* for you! My thought is too sell everything here, get one of these babies (lol) and move south! What? It could work...

Ahhh, poutine, an Quebecois (Kay-beck-wah) staple. French fries, gravy and cheese curds. There are a lot of people from eastern Ontario and Quebec that are retired in Florida. I bet they would buy poutine from me! I could make trips back here to get nice fresh cheese curds! I could be a millionaire! *cue evil laugh*

*Funny note - if you go to google images and search for "poutine", you get all these pictures of gooey fries, cheese and gravy AND a picture of Russian Prime Minister, Vladimir Poutine! Hahhahahaaha - his name is Vladimir PUTIN, not Poutine. Oh, how I love the internet.

*For whatever reason, we call fry trucks/stands chip wagons/trucks/stands. I guess it is our British heritage or something.
** Note - yes, I did post this Tuesday night!

Can you hail a chip truck like you hail a cab? I would love to have a moving restaurant pass by my house each meal.

LOL! Why not just say "FRENCH fries" Aren't y'all heavy on the French history? That's so weird that the British get all the attention with those trucks. lol!

And I was like totally giggling when you talked about the Prime Minister. You have hear that goofy chicken song on my play list haven't you? (The Chicken Prime Minister" "The King of the Chickens" That song just cracks me up!).

I'm not so sure how those Floridians would welcome your Poutin. I'm imagining that cheese curds would have to be introduced slowly.

Most people love Nachos here in the US, which is just melted cheese on tortilla chips with jalapenos. They eat them at ballgames, bars, restaurants and for football Super Bowl parties.

For some reason I'm just not seeing gravy covered fried with cheese curds being as popular.
Maybe with some jalapenos added???

But don't mind me girlfriend. You keep that dream alive....yeh..um..You go girl.

LOL!

Thanks for clearing up that question about Chip Trucks.

Lisa - poutine is just one of those things you have to try. It is WAY tastier than the description makes it sound.
Nachos are pretty popular here too, my favourite is the tortilla chips, melted cheese, chopped up onion, peppers and salsa!

Lisa - we do use a lot of French words in this area, but the British influence is very strong still!

I was going after all of the retired Canadians that go to Florida every winter! Last year in Ft. Lauderdale, we heard a fair bit of French being spoken!

Natarojo and Cdn are right - poutine is great - you need to give it a chance! Nachos are good too - I try and steer clear of anything with too much cheese on a regular basis though!

NuzMuz - no, you can't hail one - although that would be a good marketing idea! Most of the time they are parked in strategic locations - usually next to office buildings! lol.

Yummy-poutine sounds wonderful!!

I will have to ask My Honey if he has ever eaten it. He did a fair bit in various parts of Canada for the oilfield.

i have never heard of french fies with gravy or cheese curd. How interesting.
Laughing orca just made me hungry for nachos and margarita. Bad orca. I almost made it thru the super bowl w/out a cocktail.

I've been on a diet of much simpler tastes. I don't think it would end well if I ate anything that greasy and heavy.

Here in Texas, we have chili cheese fries. And nachos, of course.

Sorry about Rusty's eyes! That's not good. My Poco was named Rusty in a former life.

I have heard chip trucks referred to by that term here in Washington. Maybe it is how close we are to the Canadian border, but that is the term I've known them by and it makes sense to me.....although they don't sell poutine on them here! LOL
