TGIF

Well, I find myself sitting at my desk on a beautiful Friday afternoon. I have about 30 minutes to go before I can leave for the day. I don't feel like getting into the numerous works projects I have to complete, so I thought I'd take a break and write up a quick post here.

**********

Rusty update: He seems to be doing better and I think he is gaining weight. His ribs are still a bit visible and his withers are pretty bony, but overall he is looking better. I have a vet appt. scheduled for next week, so hopefully I can get the go-ahead to start back into riding. His top line has pretty much disappeared so I'm sure that is a big factor in the way he looks. That boy needs some muscle! lol

***********

Work has slowly been getting more hectic the past week. Everyone (but me!) is back from their summer vacations and are creating all kinds of work for me to do. I work as a webmaster/communications/jane-of-all-trades person. I also just found out this afternoon that I will have someone reporting to me - sort of as in I will be their boss. Add that to the part-time photographer that I manage and that makes 2 other people to worry about. No pay raise in sight either, dammit! lol I am not a manager in the true sense, I just keep track of what they are working on and help them with projects. I also have to teach both of them how to update our web site. Should be an interesting few months coming up.

******************

Last month I wrote up a big list of things I needed to do around the house/barn. I had about 25 things on that list - none of them particularly urgent. I'm slowly getting stuff done and for someone who is a major procrastinator, that is somewhat of an accomplishment!

Today I renewed my OEF (Ontario Equestrian Federation) membership. A couple of the barns I'm looking at require that membership for insurance purposes. They have a fun program called RideOntario where you can log hours riding and get prizes. Stuff like that is fun for the recreational rider who doesn't show. I'm going to use it as motivation to get out and ride more - when I can ride my horse, that is!!

Speaking of procrastination, I am procrastinating on making a decision about barns. I have a hunch about what I would like to do, but still want to speak to my current barn owner before I make a decsion. In addition to being a procrastinator, I am terrible about making decisions. I worry, I second-guess, I doubt, I worry about hurting the other people's feelings, etc. It isn't fun for me when I have to make a big decision.

You'll do fine - I have seen your thought process on your blog. You are a smart gal. Trust yourself. You know what you are talking about.

If you switch - which one are you going to try for? ???

I am dying to know...

And you really don't have to tell me I am being nosey.

Oh my fellow procrastinating worry-wart! I agree with Steph, in the end you seem to make good decisions.
And Steph isn't the only one curious about that decision ;)

Oh, I meant to ask... I belong to SHF which is, I think, a kinda subset to CEF. Is OEF the same? Take advantage of that riding program!! I wish SHF had one. Seems kinda like AQHA's "Ride America" program (APHA has one too but I don't know the name).
SHF membership runs Jan.1-Dec.31 no matter when during the year you buy your membership. You could buy it on Dec. 15 and it still would expire on Jan. 1! As such I try to buy my membership as close to the beginning of Jan. as possible.

Thanks for the vote of confidence -I'm going to make you wait a bit longer on the barn thing, because I haven't truly decided - I do have a favourite. :-p

Cdn - the OEF must be similar to the SHF, not sure if it is part of the CEF or on it's own. The OEF expires Dec31 too - I've been meaning to renew the darn thing for months, so that'll teach me to do it in Jan. next year!

Well I figured you've been busy for why you hadn't posted for a while. I'm glad you've fond some time to play catch up, though. I missed your blog and I missed reading about Rusty.
Glad to hear he's filling out a bit, and is feeling better, too.

I know how you feel about making major changes. It's hard and it's not comfortable. But I know, at least in this situation, that when you do change barns, you will be much happier (provided that it's a better situation). :)

You go girl! All of this new responsibility, they really should be offering you a little more padding to your paycheck. Maybe after you do it for a while, you can request that. hehe

I think it's great that you have the option of joining such a wonderful organization that supports and encourages horse riding. What fun!
I hope you will be posting about all the practice, miles and trails you do.

I almost forgot! I also want to say thank for stopping by my blog to wish me a happy birthday and give me such supportive advice yesterday. It is much appreciated.

You sound just like me! I drive people nuts because I can never make decisions and I stress, worry, question, stress a little more, etc. over things (but mostly horses!) I am guilty of always feel better with the "devil you know over the devil you dont" and hate change!

Listen to Stephanie- she has great advice there!

Good luck!
