So I decided yesterday that Hawk just isn't the right horse for me. *Sigh*
He is pretty, affectionate and easy to catch, but he just doesn't have enough experience for me. I've realized that I need an older 'been there, done that' sort of horse. I really need to rebuild confidence and get more miles in the saddle before I can work with a younger horse.
I'm going to see a 16 yr old appy gelding tonight - an 8yr old is currently riding him, so I should be able to handle that. LOL. Maybe he will work out for me - if not, back to square one. There aren't many older, well-trained healthy horses around. I guess people are holding on to those ones the most. :-)
Anyone want to send me a pretty, very well-trained horse???
Name That....

I have a gorgeous, well-trained horse that I am going to be selling. But I don't think he'd be the match for you, because it sounds like you and I have some similar "issues". lol
I'm very sad that I'll be selling Quinn but I've come to realize that he's not "the one".
He is very well trained, but as I saw on another blog recently that doesn't always mean "broke" and he's a bit to high strung for me, or rather I'M too high strung for him! He needs a much more confident rider. :(
Hope things work out with the Appy. The "good" horses seem to be the only ones in short supply lately.
Sorry it didn't work out, but sounds like you are being smart about everything!
Wish I could but I need to hold onto my 'been there-done-that' mare, for the same reasons you mentioned. Sorry. But I do hope you are able to find the 'perfect' horse soon.
